All answers
What is Selfbase?
Selfbase is a platform that lets you create, share, and analyze your content through a fully customizable link in bio.
Think of it as your own mini-website — one link that brings together everything you want to share: social profiles, links, videos, contact forms, and more. No design skills or technical knowledge needed.
Ready to start? Sign up and build your page in less than a minute.
How do I get started?
Getting started takes less than a minute:
- Sign up for a free account
- Customize your page — add links, choose a design, set your background
- Copy your unique Selfbase URL and share it everywhere
No design skills or technical knowledge needed.
Can I track audience behavior?
Yes. Selfbase includes built-in analytics so you can see:
- Total visits to your page
- Link click-through rates for each block
- Traffic sources — where your visitors are coming from
PRO users also get access to Google Analytics integration and UTM builder for deeper campaign tracking.
Is Selfbase free to use?
Yes — Selfbase has a free Starter plan with no time limit. It includes unlimited links, social icons, link effects, gated links, video backgrounds, basic analytics, and a contact form.
The PRO plan unlocks premium features like custom fonts, Selfbase branding removal, and advanced content blocks. See all plan details.
Why do I need a link in bio tool?
Social platforms only give you one link — but you have more than one thing to share. A link in bio solves that by giving you a single URL that points to everything at once.
Selfbase goes further than a simple list of links. You can:
- Build a page that fully reflects your brand — colors, fonts, layouts
- Add rich content like galleries, embeds, and forms
- Track what actually gets clicked
- Own your audience instead of being at the mercy of an algorithm
If you already have a website, great — just add it as one of your Selfbase links.
Why is my page not visible?
Your Selfbase page is private by default. To make it publicly accessible:
- Go to General Settings in your Selfbase dashboard
- Find the Visibility section
- Click the Public button
Once enabled, anyone with your link can visit your page. You can switch back to private at any time.

What are premium features?
PRO plan features include:
- Custom fonts — access to the full Google Fonts library
- Remove Selfbase branding from your page
- PRO content blocks — Rich text, Gallery, Embed, Form, Tip Jar, Products, Posts
- Email gate — collect visitor email addresses before they access a link
- Emails view — manage and view all captured addresses per page
- Form submissions — custom form builder with response storage and CSV export
- Google Analytics integration
- UTM builder for campaign tracking
- Open Graph customization — control how your link previews look when shared
- Hero layout for a more editorial look
- Monetization — connect Stripe to accept tips and sell digital products directly from your page
- Priority support
You can upgrade to PRO inside the app at selfba.se under Settings → Billing.
How do I change my background?
You can set a background in two places:
- Entire page — go to Design → Page to set a color, gradient, or image background for your whole Selfbase
- Individual Card block — go to Content → Card to give a specific card its own background, separate from the rest of the page
How do I add and configure a link?
Tap the + icon in the Content view and choose Link. Paste your URL — Selfbase automatically scrapes the page and pre-fills the title, description, and preview image for you. You can edit any of these fields manually after.
Appearance
The default look for all your links is controlled under Design → Buttons. Changes there apply to every link on your page at once — button style, corner radius, fill, shadow, and more.
Content locks
You can restrict access to any link by adding a lock. Open the link's settings and tap Add lock:
- Sensitive content — shows a warning before the link opens
- Age restriction — asks visitors to confirm their age before proceeding
- Password protection — requires a password to unlock the link
- Email gate — visitors must enter their email address to access the link
How does the email gate work?
The email gate places a soft barrier in front of any link on your page. Instead of opening immediately, visitors are asked to enter their email address first. Once they submit, the link opens and their address is saved to your email list.
How to add an email gate
- Open any link in the Content view
- Tap Add lock in the link settings
- Choose Email gate
- Save — the gate is active immediately
Viewing collected emails
All captured addresses appear in the Emails view on your page. You can browse and paginate through the list, and delete individual entries at any time. Captures can also be forwarded to a webhook for syncing to your CRM or newsletter tool.
Good to know
- The email gate is a PRO feature — free users cannot enable it
- Gates are per-link — you can gate some links and leave others open
- You can remove the gate from any link at any time without losing previously collected addresses
Can I start from a template?
When you create a Selfbase account, the onboarding flow includes a template selection step. Templates give you a pre-styled starting point — a layout, color scheme, and block arrangement suited to a specific creator type or use case.
After choosing a template
Everything remains fully editable. Change colors, fonts, blocks, and layout at any point under the Design and Content views. The template is just a starting point, not a permanent choice.
Changing your design later
Go to Design → Page to adjust the background, palette, and typography. Individual block styles can be changed directly within the Content view at any time.
You are never locked into your initial template.
How does the Tip Jar work?
The Tip Jar block adds a simple payment experience to your page. Visitors pick an amount and tap the button — a payment modal opens, they enter their card details, and the tip is sent directly to your Stripe account.
How to add a Tip Jar
- Connect your Stripe account under Profile → Payments
- Open the Content view on your page
- Tap + and select Tip Jar
- Set your preset amounts, currency, and button label
- Save — the block is live immediately
Tip Jar settings
- Preset amounts — comma-separated list of suggested amounts (e.g. 2,5,10)
- Allow custom amount — lets visitors enter any amount they choose
- Currency — EUR by default; you can change this to match your Stripe account currency
- Button label — defaults to "Send tip", but you can customize it
Where the money goes
Payments are routed directly to your connected Stripe account via Stripe Connect. Selfbase takes a small platform fee from each transaction. You can track all received tips in the Transactions view on your page.
Good to know
- Tip Jar requires a connected Stripe account — set this up under Profile → Payments
- Stripe Connect onboarding requires a PRO page
- The Tip Jar block is in Beta — it is live and fully functional, newly launched
- You can have multiple Tip Jar blocks on the same page
How do I sell products from my page?
The Product Sale block lets you showcase and sell products directly from your page. You can sell digital files via Stripe checkout, or link visitors to any external shop — all in the same block.
How to create a product
Products live under Content → Products in your page admin.
- Tap New product and fill in the details:
- Name and Description
- Product image — optional cover image shown on the block
- Type: choose Digital file (Stripe checkout + auto download) or External link (links out to any URL)
- For Digital file: set a price, choose currency, and upload the file
- For External link: enter the URL and optionally set a display price
- Save the product
How to add a Product Sale block
- Open the Content view on your page
- Tap + and select Product Sale
- Add one or more products from the picker
- Drag products to reorder them
- Set a button label for each product
- Choose a 1-column or 2-column layout under Appearance
- Save — the block is live immediately
Digital file products — buyer experience
The buyer sees the product card with image, name, description, and price. They tap the buy button, enter card details in the payment modal, and complete the purchase. After payment, they automatically receive an email with a secure one-time download link.
External link products
The button opens the external URL you specified. No payment is processed on Selfbase. Useful for physical products on Etsy, courses on Teachable, or any shop on another platform.
Tracking sales
All completed purchases appear in the Transactions view on your page, including the buyer's email, amount, and product name.
Good to know
- The Product Sale block requires a PRO plan
- Digital file products require a connected Stripe account — set this up under Profile → Payments
- External link products do not require Stripe
- You can deactivate a product without deleting it — it will show as "Unavailable" on the block
- Download emails for digital files are sent automatically
How do I connect Stripe to accept payments?
To accept payments through Tip Jar or Product Sale, you need to connect a Stripe account. Payments are routed directly to your account via Stripe Connect — Selfbase does not hold your money.
How to connect Stripe
- Go to Profile → Payments in the app
- Tap Connect Stripe
- You will be redirected to Stripe's onboarding flow
- Complete the form — Stripe will ask for your personal details, bank account, and identity verification
- Once approved by Stripe, you will be redirected back to Selfbase with an active connection
The onboarding typically takes a few minutes to complete. Stripe may request additional verification documents depending on your country.
Requirements
- You must have at least one PRO page to access Stripe Connect onboarding
- A Stripe account (Stripe creates one for you during onboarding if you do not have one)
- Stripe must be available in your country — check stripe.com/global for supported countries
After connecting
Once your Stripe account is active, Tip Jar and Product Sale blocks on your pages will go live. Payments are processed immediately and deposited to your bank account on Stripe's standard payout schedule.
You can track all transactions in the Transactions view on each page.
Good to know
- Selfbase takes a small platform fee from each transaction
- You can disconnect or re-connect Stripe at any time under Profile → Payments
- If your Stripe account is pending verification, payment blocks will show as unavailable until the verification is complete
How does the Form block work?
The Form block lets you build a custom contact, enquiry, or feedback form directly on your page. Submissions are stored in Selfbase — no third-party form service required.
How to add a Form block
- Open the Content view on your page
- Tap + and select Form
- Add fields using the Add field button
- Drag fields to reorder them
- Set a success message under Success message
- Save — the form is live immediately
Supported field types
- Text — single-line input (names, subjects, short answers)
- Email — email field with built-in format validation
- Textarea — multi-line input for longer messages
Each field has a label, placeholder, and an optional Required toggle.
Display modes
- Inline — the form renders directly on your page
- Modal — a button sits on the page; tapping it opens the form in a modal overlay
Viewing submissions
All form responses appear in Dashboard → Forms on your page. You can:
- Browse all submissions with timestamps
- Search by form (block) name
- Delete individual submissions
- Export submissions as CSV using the download button
Webhooks
Form submissions can be forwarded automatically to any URL using webhooks. Set this up under Settings → Integrations. Webhook payloads are signed with HMAC-SHA256 for security.
Good to know
- The Form block is a PRO feature — free users cannot add it
- Submissions are stored in Selfbase and are not forwarded anywhere automatically unless you set up a webhook
- Web3Forms block (the external form service integration) is available on all plans, but submissions from Web3Forms are not forwarded to webhooks — use the Form block for webhook support
How do webhooks and integrations work?
Webhooks let you automatically forward events from your Selfbase page to an external service — a Slack channel, a Notion database, a CRM, or your own backend.
Setting up a webhook
- Open Settings → Integrations on your page
- Tap Add webhook
- Enter the destination URL and choose which events to listen for
- Save — Selfbase will send a POST request to that URL each time the event fires
Event types
- form_submission — fires when someone submits a Form block on your page
- email_capture — fires when someone enters their email through an email gate
- purchase — fires when someone completes a payment (Tip Jar or Product Sale)
Webhook payload
Each request is a JSON POST with the event type, page details, and the relevant data (e.g. submitted form fields, captured email address, or purchase amount).
Security
Every webhook request includes an X-Selfbase-Signature header with an HMAC-SHA256 signature. You can use this to verify that the request genuinely came from Selfbase. Your webhook secret is shown once when you create the webhook — store it securely.
Testing
Use the Send test button on any webhook to fire a sample payload to your endpoint. This is useful for verifying your endpoint is reachable and handling the data correctly before going live.
Good to know
- Webhooks are available on all plans
- Web3Forms block submissions are not forwarded to webhooks — use the Form block if you need webhook support for form submissions
- You can have multiple webhooks per page, each listening to different events
How do I find other Selfbase pages?
Explore is a built-in way to discover other Selfbase pages.
You'll find the Explore link at the bottom of every Selfbase page. Tap it to open a list of recent pages — each with an avatar, title, slug, and a short description. Use the search box at the top to find a specific creator by name.
Right now Explore is available to everyone. In the future, only pages on the PRO plan will appear in Explore.
